General Moly, Inc. (GMI) is a publicly traded USA mining company with headquarters in Lakewood, Colorado and mining projects in Nevada that include the Mt. Hope Mine located 23 miles northwest of Eureka. In 2008, GMI made the transition from an exploration company to a development company. GMI is positioned to be one of the world's largest primary molybdenum producers by the middle of the next decade. Molybdenum ("moly") is a metallic element used primarily as an alloy in steel manufacturing.

On October 4, 2007 our board of directors approved a name change from Idaho General Mines, Inc. to General Moly, Inc. (GMI). In February 2008, we entered into a co-investment agreement with POS-Minerals Corporation and created Eureka Moly, LLC. Eureka Moly, LLC (EMLLC) is the owner/operator of the Mt. Hope Mine. EMLLC is 80% owned by GMI and 20% owned by POS-Minerals Corp. which is 100% owned by the third largest steel producer in the world POSCO and its global headquarters are located at Pohang City in southern Korea.
